ProfileFaith G.Thaw, M. Ed., residing in Scottsdale, Arizona, has worked in special education for thirty years. She was a special education teacher of varying exceptionalities and a special education administrator before embarking on advocacy for families of children with special needs. Her expertise extends to working with children of all exceptionalities while assisting families in understanding the very complex special education process, serving as both guide and mentor. She has been extremely successful in working with parents and school districts, arriving at solutions that ultimately benefit their children by providing the special education services to which they are legally entitled. Ms. Thaw has expertise in special education and regularly attends conferences and seminars to ensure that her knowledge remains current. She prides herself on being a creative thinker and able negotiator, attributes that are essential in designing and developing programs, services, and IEPs that are thoughtful, and more importantly, effective in achieving the goal of student progress. Faith understands the struggles that parents of special needs children must endure and is passionate about their, and their children's right to be heard and validated by school districts; that they be treated with dignity and respect, ensuring to them a vital and equal part of the special education process. Faith has provided consulting services to clients across the United States and the British Isles and her practice currently includes providing advocacy services to clients residing in, but not limited to, Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, and California. She has established professional relationships with some of the premier psychologists, neuropsychologists, psychiatrists, and educational attorneys in metropolitan Phoenix. Her array of services include written communication, IEP development and accommodations, review of special education documents, and accompanying families to the various types of special education meetings. She is available to observe students in their classrooms and meet with the children’s educators, psychologists, or medical professionals. Faith is a cum laude graduate of Florida International University with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Special Education and has a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University. Organizations in which she is a member are The Council of Parent Advocates and Attorneys, Council of Exceptional Children, Learning Disabilities Association, and Autism Society of America. |
